Pointe by Brandy Colbert is about a ballet dancer named Theo who suffers from an eating disorder. When her best friend returns after being kidnapped for four years, the events and secrets she’s been holding all slowly come to light.
I was introduced to Pointe through young adult author Liz Fichera’s blog. I’m glad I decided to give it a try because it was a very different book than I normally go for. It had an interesting plot line. The writing was gritty and realistic which made the reading experience that much more addictive.
As the events started unfolding I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Theo. She was dealing with so many issues and didn’t have a way to cope. She was shouldering all her problems while trying to be strong through it all. I really liked the outcome of the story even if it wasn’t an
ending I would usually like.
Pointe combined so many elements like romance, suspense, and some disturbing attributes that it formed a very original story
I give Pointe 4 out of 5 stars.
