I received this ARC of What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Daniela has had a past that she wishes she could forget. She heads off to college in hopes of a fresh start. Instead she finds further heartache and difficult decisions to overcome.
I felt like the beginning of this novel felt forced. It was like I was being presented with all the facts of the story and characteristics instead of being pulled into a story. The writing was a little lacking, with some past and present tense intertwined in each sentence. I felt like the dialogue needed work and seemed a little formal.
I really had a hard time reading through this book. There was so much going on that I couldn’t really feel fully invested in the story. I felt like there was so much that wasn’t needed. Having to deal with her past was overwhelming enough for the character without having to add two love interests in the mix. If the story was either about her relationships or her past it would have been more enjoyable to read.
I felt the ending was rushed and even admit I skimmed over the last few pages. With some cutting and editing it could become a story which readers can enjoy, but like it stands, it wasn't for me.
